Galería Canalejas

June, 28, 2022

As a way to celebrate and support International LGBT+ Pride Day, Galería Canalejas will illuminate its iconic façade with the representative rainbow colours of this community.

Since early June, the balconies of Madrid have already been flying the rainbow flags that are carried through the central streets and avenues of the capital for the Madrid Pride Parade.

The grand historic façade of Centro Canalejas Madrid, which dates back to 1902 and behind which can be found both Four Seasons Hotel Madrid and Galería Canalejas, will be supporting this awareness-raising celebration in the centre of Madrid with these special illuminations from 28 June (International LGBT+ Pride Day) until 10 July (the official end of Madrid Pride, MADO 2022).

The rainbow flag was used for the first time at the end of the 1970s and today forms part of the Madrid cityscape as one of the world’s capitals where this group is most respected and celebrated. Each one of the colours to be projected onto the façade of Galería Canalejas broadly represents a part of the LGTBIQA+ community.

The special lights will be switched on between 22:00 and 01:00 until the end of the festivities to encourage the city to show its pride.
